Hi
As from yesterday a essential element has joined my granny kit, I have had the grey hair, the glasses, the memory losses, I was offered a walking stick not so long ago and so on now a little girl has finalised the set....
Hoping i will make a mermaid of her, she will be able to come with gran to see the fishes, ok snorkeling first....
bonjour

Hi,
Today we shall go for some information on the traveling mode that i have been experimenting lately. Well first it took me a long time to try the MICROBUS or the peugeot collective taxi. I had been reading too much the traveling guides and i was feeling weary about it. But some 2000 km later i am still alive and have not met any problems.
As a fact you have more problems convincing the driver that it is ok to take you on board. You can get a Special which is the same taxi but all for yourself. And the price is still fairly ok.basicly you pay for 8 people.
I have traveled by myself and never met any unpleasantness, well if i exclude this elderly gentleman who after some 100 km was getting younger by the minute....I am no spring chicken myself but i had to tell him to move and stop when my space got reduced to the basic essential to fit my small frame... Grand dad was probably around 70, at least looked it, but even it was not spring yet well.... he was getting some ideas... that's all he got and it was enough.
Now to avoid the police asking questions about your passport and so on, my latest technique is pretending to be asleep, relaxed, unconcerned as a seasoned egyptian traveler would do. the only difference is the the egyptians are never relax when they reach a check point, because if you are not let through it could well delay you for some time... which is the reason why drivers are not pushed to take foreigners. they don't want to waste their time at the numerous check pointS.
It is impossible to predict if you will fly through each and every one of them or if you will have to explain who you are, what you do, where you live and so on. Hazardwise it is the same as any public bus or any other transport.
Driving in egypt is sportive to say the least and yes people do get killed on the road. But i am not here to judge this. And i need to move from one place to another so....
to be continued in a few minutes

HERE A QUICK NOTE ON THE DUGONG
The dugong is a gentle animal eating grass and this one is currently living in ABU DABAB near Marsa Alam.
To see flocks of divers and snorklers rushing to see it is a bit amazing. The difficulty of picture taking comes not from the animal shyness or anything like this but from the humans, hard to take a picture without fins, hands, heads stock into your visor...

WELL ANYTHING FUNNY LATELY? WELL RIGHT NOW I CANNOT REMEMBER BUT WHAT I CAN SAY IS THAT TRAVELLING IN A SAND STORM CAN BE AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE;
FIRST THE MOST STRIKING IS THE SUN? IT LOOSES ALL IT COLOURS AND IS A GLARING WHITE AS THE AIR IS SO HEAVY WITH SAND
OUPS sorry i am writting in capitals, so then you cannot see 1m ahead of yourself, in the fog light can come through a little here nothing at all, and just like black ice sand on the road makes it very slippery. on my way back to Marsa Alam from Hurghada an army truck had turn over... a bit gore but nothing lethal it seemed, well i didn't look too much knowing my tendancy to fainting when confronted with pain....
ok for those who are planning to come here, we have a fluctuating weather going from i would say, a 25° to a 30°, water being 23° at 20m, check it for myself. My fins were very pleased to feel the water again and complained about the far in between dives we did lately. so i had to promise we would go more often. No i am not on drugs!!! or on the booze!!!
on the photo side, well i have forgotten a bit how to use the underwater housing so not a good crop... next time will be better...
allez tchao, see you later

Good morning,
It has now been a long time since my last posting, well this one is over due, as I am told.
The essential item is the winter is over here… 25° C during the day and a fresh 21 in the evening. Blankets are coming off the bed and jumpers head for the wardrobe, hopefully not to come out again until next winter. On the other hand mosquitoes are very busy feeding on fresh meat which I seem to be for them….. and flies as always….
Water well I don’t know as to be honest I haven’t been in it, too cold, ok you can laugh but it is truly amazing how fast you get accustomed to heat… but be reassured sunburns are still on the cards, the vanilla-strawberry season is open, once more proved it…. How about learning… forget it!! Gone past redemption…
On this post the photo is the proof that miracles do exist : look at the picture carefully, inside information : the construction is a water tank. When you imagine the weight of this when it is half full, never mind full… I let you guess when it is full to the brim… Couldn’t resist sharing this one.
Bonjour,

Bread the essence of life. Finally a bakery making some bread other than the typical flat round pita type bread has been located. The strange thing is that the bread roll, well supposed to be is much nicer re-heat the next day…Would it be because it is removed from the oven before it is fully baked… a mystery unresolved as yet. But in all fairness the dry bread is excellent. The trick is to go to the bakery regularly and buy what is available at the time and hop every thing into the deep-freeze. Well regular supply of the bread you may want that day is yet to come.. it takes a bit of organizing but compared to other things it is minor. Another type called “fetir” is also much nicer warmed up the next day. Why don’t know either. This one is a type of pan cake cum millefeuilles. Really nice with savory or sweet food. If you come to Egypt, try tasting it, well worth it….
